A note on our new name
TheAccessible.org is now Gevell.
Same founders. Same team. Same tools. Same standard. We changed our name — and nothing else that matters to you. Here’s why, and what it means for your account.
What changes for you: nothing
This is a rename, not a reset. You don’t need to do anything.
- Your account, files, and subscription carry over exactly as they were.
- You sign in the same way, with the same credentials.
- Existing links and bookmarks continue to work.
- The same people build and support the product every day.
Where the name comes from
Gevell comes from the Welsh word gefell — “twin.” We say it GEV-ell, rhyming with “level.”
The name works on two levels, and both are true. Our founders are twins. And every tool we make produces a twin of your document — an accessible version that carries the same meaning, just through a channel everyone can use.
Every document deserves a twin.
Why we made the change
“TheAccessible.org” described what we do, but it was long, easy to mistype, and hard to make unmistakably our own. As we grew into a family of products, we wanted a single name that is short, easy to say and remember, and unambiguously ours across the web and in a trademark.
Gevell gives us exactly that: one memorable brand for every tool — Gevell PDF, Gevell Audit, Gevell Report Card, and the rest of the family. The work behind them, and our commitment to WCAG-conformant accessibility, is exactly what it has always been.
